I was hanging out on Maxima Org and brought up a debate. A user stated that the 6 speed transmission in the 4G Acura TL is inferior to the CVT in the Maxima. What do you guys think of this?

Error messages abs, check emissions, check sh awd,
I have a 2011 acura tl shawd edition. I was driving and ran over a brink in the road i could not avoid. Once I ran over the break I felt a boom under my car then the warning signals came on my car check ABS check emissions check shod check Hill resistance. My speedometer does not go up or down when driving is also turn off the coolant from my air conditioning when it blows I now only get hot air the car rides booth and dry as normal but I have to hold on to the press start button before it can turn off the vehicle. There's no leaks no cracks no burning smells underneath looks just fine. My radio am IGP S takes about 2 minutes before it comes on after the car drinks up instead of coming on instantly I check every fuse and all the fuses are fine I need help if anyone is a squiresses please give details on a fix.

Dual Exhaust ILX? What do you think?
Got a little bored so I thought I'd try to photoshop (very badly) a 2019 ILX with dual exhausts.

For those wondering, from what I've read here and there, dual exhausts aren't too easy to do on the 9th gen Civic chassis because of the fuel tank location. Not saying it's entirely impossible though, in fact I could be completely wrong.

swapping TL engine into 06 Dodge Charger
I was wondering if the tl engine bolts up to the charger transmission or do I just swap transmissions and ecu?

Hi all. Glad to have found this group. I am not new to Acura, I have owned a couple in the past and several Accords and Civics. To be more specific, I owned an '89 Integra LS and a '92 Legend L - and several 80s Accords, Civics, a '91 Accord and most recently a '12 Civic. I was specifically looking for a Toyota Avalon (as I am a Toyota person - and Hondas, just more Toyota, lol), but I have always wanted a 96-04 RL and one finally popped up locally at a good price. It is a 1999 RL with 203k miles. I am not yet sure of the maintenance history, but looks to be well cared for and owned by a lady in her 60s who has owned it a few years. I know I need to ask about the timing belt on when it was last changed. Any other trouble spots to be alert for on a '99? Do these have transmission issues like the ones that plagued the late 90s/early 2000s TL? I think I can get the car for about $1,700. I have 6 cars, but all are gas guzzlers (most are old school classics). My daily is a '04 Sequoia Limited and while I know the RL isn't a fuel sipper, I am sure I will do better than 15 mpg? My other options for now are a 1998 Toyota Avalon XL and a 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS, both with a little over 200k and the same price. Thanks!

Key Fob Memory Loss
Our RDX no longer recognizes the key fobs for driver 1 or driver 2. We have to push the memory 1 or 2 buttons in the car to get the seats, etc. to adjust for the appropriate driver. Anyone have a fix for this?

New ILX paint issues
Ive had my 19 ILX Tech ASpec for 5 months now, just turned 5500 miles. Since ownership Ive really gotten a glimpse at Acuras piss poor quality control. From misaligned body panels, to dozens of paint defects, to factory wet sanding spots, creases in the headliner, and untrimmed dashboard molding around the defrost vents. Im currently leasing this car and thank god I did! I truly planned on purchasing after lease but now Im thinking Ill part ways and move into another brand. My wifes 17 Mazda CX-9 is near flawless after almost 3 years of ownership. Why is Mazda more of a luxury brand than Acura? This lack of quality control wouldnt pass for a Hyundai/Kia, why does Acura let it pass?
Well yesterday was the last straw. As I hand wash my car in my driveway, I noticed that the paint on the upper edges of the rear bumper is just flaking off to bare plastic. Theres not even primer under there!

08 TL - Dead Battery issue and now Transmission failing
Hi all, first post here. I have an 08 TL that sat in my driveway for 5 days while I was away. Came back and the battery was dead, which has happened before. I jumped it with an external jumper pack I keep around for just such an occasion, and it started with a little effort. The battery light on the dash came on, as well as the VSA light. I noticed that after it idled for a minute, the climate control LED display panel started flickering, like it was getting low power. Never had that happen when jumping from a dead battery before.
But..... the big issue is that when I went to put it in Reverse, I got nothing, like it was in neutral. After 3-4 seconds and a little rev, it would catch, lurch backwards and then slip out again. Another rev and it would catch and lurch for another second. Same issue when in Drive, it would lurch forward with a little rev.
What do you all think? Related issue with the transmission to the battery? Separate issue with the transmission? Alternator issue perhaps? Seems like the car isnt getting enough power from the battery to operate correctly.
Pretty fantastic considering its a company car that I dont own but am responsible for repairs for (long story) and I just did a $350 brake job. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Rear tailgate struts replace
Just FYI, if your tailgate feels heavy all of a sudden
one of your strut supports leaking and gone bad. I went to Auto Zone paid $65 for two and dealer wants $56? Each
so it was 5 mins to do. Prop your trunk door up
take flat head screw driver and pry under clip on top of the strut and pry it open a bit then pull off the pivot ball. Do same for bottom and its off. To put new one on just start at top and line hole in strut to the pivot ball and push it on and do same for bottom and do your other side.
Then I open my tail gate and it went up strong and easy with the new support shocks. Done !

Installing Stock Suspension (Need Help!
Alright guys, need your help.
I am taking off my coil-overs and putting the stock suspension back on. I'm finished with the front but the rears are giving me trouble. First, I had to Sawzall the lower bushings due to the bolt being seized in there. Now, I can't get enough leverage down on the knuckle to be able to line up the knuckle and the bottom of the strut to bolt it back together.
The sway bar/sway bar links aren't connected so that didn't help.
Any ideas to try? Pop the lower ball joint?

05 Acura TL base model
Hey fellow Acura peeps, I purchased a 2005 TL in early June 2019 and have been on many forums looking to fix what had bothered me after driving it awhile and have noticed the same issues I have are incredibly common. For one, 3G definitely lives up to the rattle box complaints I've read continuously about but think I've stopped nearly all of mine. Second, the 270hp is fast as hell and it's a joy to drive every time I hop in. Leather is still soft with no flaws. Excited to continue reading forums for other ideas and unknowns - such as discovering my foglights are integrated in my headlights - which makes little sense but maybe I'll get the lower lamps and but kind of afraid of messing with the plastic molding and damaging beyond repair. Enough rambling, thank everyone in advance for any and all repairs and tips.

Passenger door touch lock/unlock stopped working
Anyone know if there is a setting for this? 3 other doors work as always (can lock or unlock by touching handle while fob is in pocket, but passenger door no longer responds. Broken sensor or setting?

Solenoid issue
So driving down the road in gear I give in gas and I have no power and acts like I am in neutral. Then the car shudders acting like its trying to find what gear it needs to be in. But when I pull over disconnect the battery my car will run fine for a bit until I give some gas then I will be driving then no power and act like Im in neutral and cant find a gear to be in. I got a road trip Monday and I need something! Just did transmission oil and filter, checked shift solenoid and cleaned it. Putting power to the solenoid they work but Im not sure if are bad because my car would run fine then do that thing so plan on switching them out but if anybody knows anything let me know!!

i have only one remote with the vehicle, and i will not push my luck for long. i am sure i will not want an aftermarket -- tried this previously and, cost is a lot less but two of them failed almost immediately.
so two questions -- where best to purchase acura replacement (i can program), and what about the backup key inside (i believe it opens the compartment)? not sure i will need it, but it would be nice to have that key.
any ideas to avoid the dealer on this? thanks

Hi Guys,
So, stop at the Redlight
Greenlight - move - strange booom!!! underneath the car.
Car goes into neutral and I can't shift gear into parking.
Turn off the car - move to parking, start again - grinding noise shifting to D.
towed to a mechanic shop. will get some answers Mon-Tue.
