iOS13 beta seems more stable on carplay?

Typically I have to do the idiotic shuffle when using my RDX and carplay where I have to let it completely boot up before connecting my phone. Makes for really frustrating driving around town and having to do this every single time. My experience has been that if I connect the phone too soon then carplay won't automatically start, then when I press the carplay icon on the RDX it refuses to connect to carplay, so I disconnect and reconnect and then have to hit the carplay icon again, whew.

With iOS public beta 4 this seems improved. Now I can connect my phone before or while the infotainment is booting and it will connect and start my last app (usually Waze) automatically. I'm not sure if it's something improved in the public beta or if it's simply that iOS was reinstalled. Also no more random disconnects or resets from carplay.

Ceramic Tints preventing dash cracks?

So I'm wondering if theres any opinion on ceramic window tints as a way to prevent dash crack, prevent door panel melting and general interior wear and tear. I have the black interior and it really does get hot as hell in the sun. In addition I'm getting a little nervous because i can now see the outline of the passenger airbag (lightly) in the dash. I always use a sunshade but that doesnt seem to really do too much. Was this issue solved or at least mitigated in later model years, or is it pretty consistent in all 3Gs?

Test drives and trying to find RL replacement

I have to say that last two years I test-drove quite an amount of cars that interest me, either because of being curious how is it to drive one, or trying to identify good enough replacement.
Most of all I go back to my RL and it surprises me each time how good it actually drives... not to make a crazy list of cars I drove, closest that it came to was 2018 GS350 F-sport... one with 7k miles, yes it was tighter inside, interior did not crackle, etc... but engine, acceleration... ummm good enough however nothing to write home about... went back to my 06 RL with 191.5k miles and I have to say, it is holding up pretty good... oh yeah, forgot to say 18 GS350 price was $47,500 or something around that price...

On the whole another level, I recently rented 2018 Highlander (AWD, base) via Hertz locally in Northern IL, and I was amazed how comfortable that car was. Spent 7 days in it, put about 3-4k miles on it (road-trip) and was really surprised how comfy it was... I have no pets, no kids, do not need an SUV but hands down, Limited Platinum 2019 was priced at 42k + tax + title in Carmax Toyota (brand new) ... for that money honestly I would not hesitate not one bit as it was super comfortable. The price will probably go down because of a soon to be released on sale 2020 Highlander which is much nicer, better inside and has all the bells and whistles current one does not (LED headlights, Infotainment system, etc.)

All in all, if I did not have RL - Toyota Highlander would be my pick... yeah I know, SUV - but I am right at the border of being too tall for mid-size sedans ... even 2016 BMW 550i Xdrive I tested was kind of tight... almost a smidge bigger than RS400 ...

Anyhow, not counting german cars which I do not plan to buy in all honesty, what other brands or different Acura models have you switched after your beloved RL was left in the past?

Good afternoon all,

I am here to find out more info on the car that my wife has owned for many years, and rarely drives lately. She has a 2004 TSX (Sorry not sure on the color name), and it will eventually become our daily at some point. right now it sits in the garage, and get used as needed, it does however need some work, so i am here trying to get to the bottom of the issues, and looking for answers, thanks so much!

Paint peeling

Hey all,

Just want to drop by to complain and give people head up. My 2016 ilx paint is starting peel already, I live in California and I do park it outside but just genuinely surprised to see this with an Acura. There is about 8 inch of paint that's peeling or bubble by the rear window.

Hello everyone. Just introducing myself to the forum. I just picked up a 06 RL with 106k miles in great condition a few weeks ago. I had a 89 1G Acura Legend back in 94 and this is my first Acura since then. Glad to be here and looking forward to picking up some tips. Thanks.

06 RL - Question about plastic engine covers

Hello there. I'm new to this forum and tried seeing if this topic was addressed elsewhere before posting this but I didn't see anything. I picked up an 06 RL a few weeks ago with 106k miles that is in fantastic condition. Only minor issue is that of the 7 plastic pieces that cover the engine, only 1 is present. I have no idea what happened to the other 6 pieces. I've been search for replacement pieces but it seems like all I can find is the main plastic piece that covers the cylinder head (the part that says VTEC on it). I cannot seem to find any mention of the other pieces. Does anyone know the specific name or part number so that I can do a more detailed search? I'm including a pic (not my engine, just a pic I found from a junkyard). The 2 pieces not numbered are the long piece on the driver side and the piece that covers the radiator. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Error code p0336 CEL turns on and off Car runs fine

Hey guys, so im looking to buy an 05 TL 6MT. The car is about 4 hours from me so I've yet to see it or drive it. I've asked the seller 21 questions worse than any gf lol. All seems good except CEL code P0336 crankshaft position sensor. The seller states the light turns on and off occasionally and the car runs just fine weather or not the light is on. He said he also has the part just hasn't installed and sent me a pic of it. Now my question is, does this sound normal for this code to trigger intermittently and turning off as well? Shouldn't this code cause the car to lose power or barely be driveable? I'm very new in the Acruca/TL fambut very happy to be joining you guys. If anyone can help id really appreciate it. I tried to a search but couldn't find any one having the same issues as I. Thanks for the help guys.

Curious to see what others have in the way of phone mounts. Minnesota just had their hands-free law go into effect, so I suppose it's time to consider one but I'm not big on the cheap looking vent mounts.

Front end clunking

I have a 09 TL which I just replaced front struts and end links on. I still have a light clunking sensation on the front, Possibly drivers side when going over certain road surfaces. I did the usual ball joint test pulling on wheel side to side and top to bottom with no play. Has anyone experienced this same thing? Anyone have a fresh idea that I can follow up on? Thanks for any help.....

I purchased the FastBrakes adapter kit, 05-12 RL Calipers, 350Z rotors, stainless steel braided brake lines, Ceramic pads and some Honda Brake Fluid. Will be doing the swap within the next couple of days! Anyone have any insight on the project?

RPMs jump on acceleration (6MT)

Hi guys. This is kinda hard to explain so bare with me here. Recently I been having this weird issue with my '12 6MT where after shifting into 2nd or any gear after 1st, the rpms jump ahead when I push pedal down half way before the car moves. So here's an example, say I'm in 1st and I shift to 2nd and push the accelerator half way down, the RPM will jump like it's actually going to move the car but it doesn't. Instead I just hear the engine sound rev up, and then the revs quickly fall back down to normal and I get speed. From a dead stop, this does not happen, only after shifting into 2nd and onwards this happens. Also it only happens if I go half or more on the gas. If I shift and lightly transition to the next gear with little gas, everything goes smooth. Any ideas? Thank you

Today my 2013 RDX AC seems not blowing cold air, so I checked the coolant, it's below the "min". Currently don't have time to change the coolant, can I just go to buy the third party coolant and top it?

Transmission issue

2 times now while driving after about 45 minutes then stopping at a traffic light upon taking off the transmission will not shift out of gear not sure what gear it's in there is not much power since I need to give it full throttle to move fast enough then then it will redline and will not shift. I stopped and was able to shift from D to reverse and park but in D it would not shift until I turned the car off and restarted it. I did not notice any lights on the dash while this happens called the dealer and of course they never ever heard of this. Anyone here experience anything like this?
Also when I turn the car off about 75% of the time I here a low pitched horn sound for several seconds. Sounds like your horn would with a dead battery
