Hey guys just looking for a second opinion. I just bought a 2004 TL. The P/S fluid has a steady leak from the drivers side. I checked the pump and it’s clean with no leaks. Also the lines coming off are clean. But in the drivers wheel it seems to be leaking from a few places, or just everywhere. The lines going into the rack & pinion look to be leaking and the rack & pinion itself. I took several photos. Let me know what you think? I think I just need to change the rack & pinion and not the lines. But I want to be sure.
Both of my car keys are showing low battery and should need replacement. Local mechanics do not have its battery, so probably I can order it from Amazon and do it myself. Looks like, it should not be tough to replace, as I see in video.
But I see different kind of batteries, not sure if there is anything I should prefer one over other.
Can somebody suggest on this ? I am looking at below link -->
You will see pictures above. I have had this Acura for close to a week, driving no more than an hour a day and all the fluids are good but the coolant. The level is very low. I just ordered Genuine Honda Long Life Coolant and should arrive by the 20th. Should I avoid driving until that day to avoid any bigger issues? The H/C gauge in my car is normal (usually at halfway point) and I checked the radiator level earlier this morning and saw some fluid in there.
Since the stock amp on our platform is so difficult to replace with aftermarket gear, I decided to send it off to Phantom Audio for a tune up instead. All the cheap capacitors and opamps have been replaced with audiophile grade components. Below are the before and after photos. Note that Jesse finished this the same day my amp arrived at his house. Will let you all know how it sounds when I get it back.
Went outside to start Acura TL and notice a acouple of drips of what looks like engine oil underneath driver side front side after more researching it looks like its coming from a small hose with a clap on driver side front
I have a 2005 TL. The front defrost yields very little air flow. When I turn the defrost on, there seems to be marginally more air flow- but nowhere close to what it should be. The mode control motor works as evidenced by changing the flow to the feet or face. Also I can see that the arms are moving when I turn the defrost on/off and look behind glove compartment. One of the arms was not assembled properly upon further inspection and I unscrewed it then put it back in. Now the left/right dual control works and I do not believe it did before. No such luck on the defroster though. Is there anyway to manually change air flow to the defrost permanently? I have a lot of trouble seeing out my windshield in the mornings.
Anyone ever troll salvage yards / junk yards to check out if they have any TSX's or Acuras present?
I'm wondering what the odds are that I when I drive to my parents' house to visit them next month that is 2 states away if I stop at some yards along the way if I could find anything good?
I saw a YT video a week ago where some guy was doing some mods and said he found some performance exhaust (can't remember the name) and it was only $130 if he took it off himself
Acura doesn't make it clear what they want the 'S' to stand for in the D/S button. They call it both S Position mode and Sequential mode, although a more logical term would be Shift mode. It is engaged by pressing the D/S button twice, or if you are already in Drive, pressing the button again, which allows you drive the RDX as if you had a manual transmission though the use of the paddle shifters. I have found, however, a more useful function for the D/S button. When I begin my decent down a steep grade and I reach the speed I want to maintain (which is usually 72 mph), pushing the button automatically keeps my RDX at that speed with engine braking down to the end of the grade, when I then press it again to get back into Drive. All the vehicles around me are applying their brakes for many of the three minutes as I go down our local (Cuesta) grade, but I don't have to touch the RDX's brakes once. I rarely use cruise control so I haven't tried it for going down a grade, but I feel the Sequential Mode is a much safer option.
I have used Mobile 1 Full Synthetic on all my vehicles. Amazonbasics has full Synthetic 0w-20 (API certified/SN Plus rating). It priced at $20 for 5 qts compared to Mobile1 $28 at Walmart. The SN Plus rating is for high temp engine/turbos. Even Mobile1 is not rated SN Plus. Some YouTubers conducted and recommended the oil.
Has anyone used Amazonbasics oil? I dont want to risk it. Warren is Amazon oil distributor. They are well known providing oil for the major brand like Mobile 1, STP etc who rebranded the oil.
I'm Michael and am new to this site. I have an Acura TL- 2008 with 150,000 miles.
Am loving the vehicle, and have had for 3 months now.
I do basic maintenance on all my vehicles such as oil changes, brakes, and tire rotations, and recently taught myself how to replace calipers & rotors- front and rear.
My goal is to become completely self reliant and learn how to do maintenance and repairs as they come up.
I'm hoping to learn more about transmission work on my TL, and how to take care of minor issues with the electronic systems as they need replacing.
Hey guys, I have a TL 2008 with 150,000 miles, and the vehicle is consistently slowing at highway speeds over 75mph + (about 5 mph every 2-3 seconds) when Im not giving the car any gas. I do regular oil changes, which always helps alot, but did a full synthetic/ high mileage oil & filter change less than 2,000 miles ago and feel like the problem is not an oil issue. The fuel economy has been sucking, and Im hoping this is just a sensor issue or normal. Not experienced enough to tell.
*used vehicle, bought at 140,000 miles, well maintained.
*No check engine lights on.
*Emissions System Code: P0443
*Tire Pressure Monitor Code: 81 (front @ 41psi, rear 40psi/// Sensors read 37psi & 36psi)
*automatic transmission
*shifting into reverse was getting a bit jerky until I added more fluid, which resolved that issue (fluid low & a bit darkened, but not burnt).
*added 3/4th quart of ATF Valvoline/ Maxlife to transmission dipstick yesterday which seemed to help shifting, but not highway speed maintained.
*rpms go into 3,000 sometimes switching from 3rd to 4th gear (low speed). Vehicle maintains speed of 80mph at 2,250 rpms.
Changing oil seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but again, only for about 1,000 miles or less. Im not a certified mechanic but am intuitive enough to figure out how to find and fix most things with vehicles. Im still learning, so any guidance would be helpful. Not sure if Im just overthinking it, or if something is wrong.
Thanks!
Hey all, I've connected my 'cost-efficient' LG smartphone to the the Bluetooth HandsFreeLink system and can make calls on it, and can use the phone book function, but am running into a wall when trying to get any type of other music/ data/ ect to connect. I understand how to go through the easy-setup steps of selecting the phone provider; but the only options seem to be outdated, or big name services (Verizon, Att&t, Sprint). I'm using pre-paid straight-talk service currently, and am wandering if you can connect 'any' phones data to the vehicle through the advanced options (inputting PPP and, ect.)
Hey guys, just wandering if I necessarily need to go through Acuras official website to update my Navigation system in TL 08, or if there are cheaper options for say, used update DVD's or some type of mp3 file that can be downloaded.
Thanks for your help!

Hey guys I have an 03 Acura TL type s and It had a blown timing belt tensioner when I got it, i replaced the hydraulic cylinder and a couple weeks later, it blew again, could there be something wrong with the wheel? Also when I am stopped in gear the rpm fluctuates slightly between 4 and 500 rpm with a bit of a vibration.
Hey guys,
I just bought an 08 TL from a buddy who is moving and doesn't want to take it with him. It has 150k miles. In pretty good condition minus a few cosmetic things. I already reconditioned the left headlight, ordered a from silver trim piece on the bumper that is missing, and ordered the overhead console plastic carrier for the lights and sunroof button. Did I mention it was SUPER dirty? Took me an entire day to clean it inside and out. Other than that, I have yet to find something that doesn't work. I'm pretty sure it is the "TL Navigation" model as it has the built in touchscreen GPS.
I just have a few questions to get this forum journey in the road...
First, exactly how important is it to use premium fuel? I want to treat the car right but would like to save on fuel if possible.
Next, the dreaded oil question... Who is sticking with conventional oil and who is using synthetic, why or why not?
Last, where can I find a leather cover replacement for the driver's seat that's not a few hundred bucks? The back part is torn and I don't want it to get worse and have the foam start deteriorating and falling apart.
So my SiriusXM trial about to expires and the company blasted me with sales mail. So tonight I took the bait and sign up for 6 months @ $5/mos ($30 + taxes & fees came out ~$40). I have a short commute to work and only uses it 20 minutes/day at most. I dont need Howard Stern or sport news. Mostly I listen to music and news.
Does anyone sign up for SiriusXM service here? Does it worth it? I could cancel in 6 mos if I dont need it.
