SuffolkLong Island Sayville pizza restaurant robber grabs cash, plain-cheese pies, say cops Updated March 24, 2015 11:19 PM By CANDICE RUUD candice.ruud@newsday.com 324 comments Reprints + - A masked man who robbed a Sayville pizza restaurant Tuesday afternoon was hungry for more than cash. The thief also grabbed a couple of pies fresh out of the oven, Suffolk police said. Before fleeing, the man ordered one of the Domino's Pizza employees to slice and box the pizzas, said Bob Warren, the chain's district manager. Police said the robber entered the restaurant at 5640 Sunrise Hwy. at about 4:30 p.m. and waved what appeared to be a gun at the two employees. After ordering the workers to the ground, the man stole cash and the employees' cellphones before turning his attention to a pair of plain cheese pies, Warren said. "He actually told my employee to take the two other pizzas coming out of the oven and cut them up," Warren said. Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the robbery, police said. No one was hurt and no shots were fired, Warren said. After viewing the store's security video and talking with the employees, Warren described the robber as about 5-foot-8 and 350 to 400 pounds. |
