Similar to the CPO thread, I'm interested in an upgrade. I have a 1999 3.2TL with 155K miles which I plan to give to my 16-year-old son and I'm looking for my next car. To be honest, I want something around $20K but I might go a little higher. I'm not interested in a new purchase due to the tremendous CAPEX.
I have been thinking about the 2007/2008 TL Type-S. I've always liked the looks of this car, but I've never driven one to know how it compares to my '99.
I do not like the 2009+ styling as much, but I'm amazed how the used value of the 2009-2011 TL non-SH-AWD is comparable to the value of the 2007/2008 Type-S (in my limited research). It appears I could easily get a standard 2010 TL for the same price or lower than a 2008 Type-S.
In reading the CPO thread, I saw some folks recommend buying the TLX since there was not much of an upgrade between the models the OP was mentioning. I assume my case is different since I'd be moving from a 15-year-old TL to a 8-year-old or less TL. What do you guys think? Thanks!
