Good ole Navi Problems

So I ran into the reboot problem last week but before the problem occurred my navi prompted a update which I thought was weird. After the update everything seemed fine but later in the day the navi kept rebooting the acura globe screen. So I don't know if that odd update had something to do with it or if my saxophone case which was in the trunk hit the disc drive in the back??? :tomato:

Moving forward I'm going to send back the drive to alpine to have it fixed but I was wondering if I take the drive out will the screen be completely inactive? Will the radio functions work properly? Can someone chime in quickly... thanks
