My daughter (24 y/o college commuter) has driven the wheels off her '98 Acura CL 2.3 to the point she's needing a newer vehicle. She seems to want a compact SUV, something with decent gas mileage, something that will accommodate her 60 lb dog (grrrrr).
After driving her '98 cl this past brutal winter (record snowfall for IN.), I know she wants something that's going to be better in the snow...whether that's awd, fwd, 4x4, whatever. The biggest challenge, she's looking at spending about $5,000 - $6,000...preferably less.
I've began looking at MDX's in her price range, which seems to be limiting me to 2001-2003...but, as you know, not many good ones given her budget and I'm not sure if those are good years for MDX.
So, I'm wondering, if it were you, what would you be looking for IF NOT an MDX??? Thanks for your ideas!!! Keep in mind, my priorities (as a Dad) are her next vehicle is RELIABLE and SAFE.
