OK, so after owning my cl for a year now, the valve tick it had was driving be crazy. I've tried multiple brands and weights of oil with no avail, the ticking just wouldn't go away. So i got around to do doing a valve adjustment and when I was done, the clicking was still there. This leads me to believe that the said component that's ticking, is ticking from wear.
Now, I'm not one to use snake oil, but there has been one company that actually made something that worked, which was liquid moly. I had a 98 avenger that had a cringe worthy rod knock (running 15-45 didn't help either). I used their mos2 additive and not only did the knocking soften, it ran for another year before I scrapped it. The knock also started to fade as the motor warmed up after treatment.
Because of my luck with their previous products, I decided to give Ceratec a try. It cost 30 bucks( ouch) but it has actually started to soften my valve tick! I filled up with redline 5-30 and ceratec, and went for a drive. At first, the sound was the same, but as I put more miles on the oil, the tick gets quieter. Supposedly a treatment last a 30000 miles. It's been 270 miles so far and I can finally hear my injectors over the ticking. I will update as i put more miles on the stuff or when i hear less valve train. I'll post the threads I read before I bought the product when I get home.
