Uber

People either seem to love or hate this service. After a tempestuous start in Portland late last year, both Uber and Lyft got the preliminary thumbs-up from the City Council under a 120 day trial period. My current job is really feast or famine so I decided to give driving for Uber a shot on my days off and so far, I'm really liking it.

Last night was my first time out and I'll admit I was a little nervous about letting complete strangers into my car since I'm so anal about its appearance but it seems to be taking the taxi-type abuse in stride. People are generally pretty awesome (and love Uber) unless you get one of those obnoxious drunk types which, in Portland, is not uncommon on Friday and Saturday nights. I also like working nights because the traffic is thin and driving anywhere in this town during the day anymore makes getting mauled by a lion seem like an appealing alternative.

My plan is to do this on weekend nights from 9 or so and on my days off when I feel like it until I get tired enough that I'm ready to go home. I'm going to pay off my debts first and then use the proceeds for my 'fun' funds.
