2001 TL transmission finally gave out. Where to get it fixed?

The transmission had been slipping every once in a while for the past two years, but it finally gave out yesterday in the middle of the road. It only has ~148k miles. Brand new set of tires. Just replaced a bunch of fluids and the battery. So I definitely want to fix the issue instead of getting rid of the car.

The engine stopped working as I made a turn and started to drive uphill. As the gear started to change, I heard a clunk and the car stopped accelerating and the engine finally stopped running. I called the police and got a jump start (even though my battery is new, I didn't think it was a transmission issue). The engine started up fine, but the car would not move after I put it into gear. When the tow truck towed my truck home, he realized the car would no longer go into Park and told me it was most likely a transmission issue because of that.

The dealer is asking upwards of $5,000 for parts and labor. Has anyone else had the transmission replaced in a 1999-2003 TL? Who did you go to? How was the experience/was the price fair?
