2009 MDX Battery drain issue

After browsing this forum for a while, I think I was able to track down my issue, so thanks. But now I need more help. Here's the timeline of events:

  • This past weekend: car was great
  • Monday 5:30am - noticed a little stutter upon starting
  • Monday 7:15am - car wouldn't start. clicked and lights flashed but no turn over
  • Monday 8:30am - mechanic jumped it and tested battery and alternator. Battery was drained but otherwise good. Alternator was fine. Drove home.
  • Monday 1:30pm - dead again. Jumped it and went to work.
  • Turned on the car at 3pm and at 5:30pm and it worked. When I was ready to leave at 8pm it was dead. Jumped it and went home.
  • Somewhere on here I read to disconnect the battery to see if there is in fact a parasite, so I did that when I got home at 8:30pm.
  • Tuesday 5:30am - reconnected the battery and she started right up
  • Tuesday 7:30am Read some more on the forum. Followed advice to use multimeter and to check fuses and possibly disconnect the HFL

*Disclaimer - I have no idea how to use the multimeter other than to know that in this case high numbers are bad and low numbers are good. Removed the ground and connected it to the battery. The number I got went as high as 55.9 (amps I assume)
  • First I unplugged the HFL. It went down to 30 something.
  • Then I pulled out the #4 fuse which powers the radio, power locks, and interior lights. It went down to 0.
So that's where I'm at. I disconnected the HFL and pulled that fuse, and I'm going to let the car sit until 1:30 to make sure it turns on.

If it does turn on, and that's definitely the issue, where do I go from here? How can I trace the actual source so I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help,
-I
