First off, awesome service as usual from lehigh valley acura in allentown PA.
Our 2007 MDX is in for major service (brakes, timing belt, spark plugs). They were nice enough to give us a loaner while they worked on it.
So, as a brief owner of a 2013 TL SHAWD that i returned after about 4 days (not sure if thats what i wanted) I am quite impressed with the TLX, but with some major turn offs that are dealbreakers to me.
First the good-
-Silence!! WOW im a big fan of refinement and a quiet cabin. It feels really quiet.
-Inteior- really nice feel and quality
-Engine- its not the SHAWD, and im quite impressed
-I love the steering wheel control for volume, and channels with the wheels. Very nice. Also how you press on it and it fades out the radio. Love that.
Bad-
-The push button...wow, really? WTF.HORRIBLE. Im not sure if its something you can get use to, but it was really awkward. Especially when trying to back in and out to get in a parking space. very un natural
-The hmi screen- wow, to change the temp of the heated seats, i have to tap on the seat, tap the setting, then i have to x out of the screen. Way too much work where before it was a click of a button
So if this base TLX with entertainment is fun to drive, and feels nice, I can imagine the SHAWD is probably a blast.
Acura almost had it right.. i would never consider buying one because of the push button transmission. But I would consider for sure trading the wifes MDX up to a new one. Very nice overall build quality and finish.
