Low fuel indicator = vehicle performance changes ?

I have noticed that as soon as the orange low fuel indicator light turns on, the acceleration significantly dies. As if the system forces ECON mode or even something more sluggish than driving on ECON mode.
As soon as I refuel, the devil in my TLX comes back..... Has anyone else noticed this ?
