I was trying to get a sense of MDX resale value, after, say 10 years. 10 years ago, MDX gen 1 had just undergone an MMC. To take another comparable model, Toyota Highlander gen 1 had undergone an MMC as well around the same time. A fully loaded Highlander LTD plus some option packages was comparable in content to a base MDX, and coincidentally both cost around $36K in the US. If anything, probably OTD price on the Highlander would have been lower since Toyota dealers would have discounted more due to volume.
If we see private party sale price estimated by kbb.com, that used Highlander would supposedly fetch around 12.5k but the base MDX would only fetch around 7.5k. Even touring model is under 9k. Why would this be? I would have thought MDX as a premium brand would hold value better, or at least the same as a Toyota.
