This is a strange issue that started happening recently. My lug nuts on my tires are loosening even after I properly torque the tire. At first I was thinking that my torque wrench was out of calibration. I tried my other one and that seemed to work. After I got the car back this past week from replacing the alternator I noticed a noise which was the same as before when the lug nuts were loose. The dealer does the car inspection every time you bring the car in so I am guessing they removed the tires to do the brake inspection. I went outside to tighten them and sure enough they were not to spec.
The issue appears to be happening on the front tires. Has anyone heard of the nuts actually failing like this and it is just to replace them, or is it a matter of not applying the proper torque? I will keep an eye out on this as the last time I used my other torque wrench I didn't have this issue.
