Panamera125's new ILX 2.0 Premium

Just got back from Open Road Acura of East Brunswick NJ, my dad and I purchased a 2014 ILX 2.0 Premium. I’ll talk about the situation that presented itself for needing the car, and the deal we got.

The ILX is really going to serve as a fuel-efficient runabout for anyone/everyone to use. I won’t be getting my own car for at least 6 months if not a year, so the ILX will really be a school commuter car for the time being, especially to use in bad weather (RWD BMW didn’t cut it). My mom’s RDX is getting up there too (125k), so she will probably use the car too. I think the ILX is perfect for this sort of situation, it’s easy to drive, surprisingly zippy considering it has 150hp, fuel efficient and in my opinion, the interior is quite nice. It has a premium vibe to it.

The car we bought is Silver Moon, with the Ebony interior, Premium package only. It’s certified, 8650 miles, and the car feels truly brand new, aside from a few scratches here or there (the car was a service loaner). It was the least expensive 2014 ILX in the country, even considering high mileage 2014s and non-certified cars. The list price was $19,998 before taxes and registration and we negotiated $300 less than that. I'm assuming the price was this low because the 2016s will be out soon. As far as pricing, however, New Jersey does not have any protection against documentation fees, so the dealer charged an outrageous $499. Surprisingly, they did not try to strike the deal before year’s end. We went to the dealer on December 30th, walked out, and didn’t get a call back until yesterday, January 1st. I guess they were selling enough cars that day that they didn’t need us. Sure seemed like that, we were passed down through 3 different salesmen from start to finish, and the dealer was absolutely packed when we went to see the car initially. Once we did find a salesperson, however, the experience was good overall.

I have always been a huge fan of the ILX 2.4, but my dad wasn’t sold. Although I would much prefer to drive that myself, it’s much more his car than mine, and he likes the relaxed driving style of the automatic. The ILX is really replacing his 1999 BMW 328i manual, and I think he has become tired of shifting for himself.

So far, I’m very impressed with the car. The interior is put together well, and all seats are very comfortable. The stereo is surprisingly good. I was expecting to dislike it (it’s not the ELS system), but the sound quality is more than adequate.

Here are some pictures I got today. Didn’t get home till after dark, so I’ll take some better ones tomorrow and post them. IMO, it looks really great. Love the shape of it.
