A couple of days ago I picked up a 2014 RX w/prefered and comfort package for my wife and here are my comparison to my 2013 MDX w/tech. Both are the last models of their generation and cost similarly so they are in equal footing.
Ride fun factor: MDX wins by a lot
Exterior looks: MDX wins
Interior fit and finish: RX wins by a lot
Technology: The RX also takes this one. In addition to blind spot indicator, it has keyless entry, folding mirrors, better GPS, Pandora integration a spectacular backup camera at night (mine is almost unusable at night), heat seaters that heat instantly, and better on board computer.
Fuel consumption: so far seems like a tie.
Customer service: another win for the RX. I am comparing Bay Ridge Lexus and Ray Catena in Oakhurst NJ vs Acura of Brooklyn NY and Acura of Springfield NJ. I have only good things to say about Both Lexus dealers and poor experiences with both Acura ones...
If I had to change my MDX in a couple of years, I would give a serious look at the newer RX. I did not like many things about the 2014 MDX.
