Just some small background, I have a 2001 with 167k miles with the auto tranny replaced at 40k in late May 2005 with the rebuilt unit (under warranty only, it was not causing problems at that time). No problems or breakdowns since the car was bought new!
I am just trying to take care of my 14 year old car, and need it to last quite a bit more because I am purchasing a house with a big down payment and have no money for another car!
I noticed that when I baby the Acura and give it light gas all the time, the car shifts roughly and sometimes even "lurches" on upshifts and downshifts. Now, if I give it decent gas and drive like most of the other "quick" people on the morning commute (besides the crazy drivers who think they are in a race), I actually think the transmission shifts more smoothly and less "lurch." Am I just overthinking this? I have a friend with a newer Honda Odyssey and he says the same thing -that if he drives "fairly" aggressively, the Oddy tranny shifts more smoothly. Obviously, you can tell I just want this tranny to last long! Everything else on this car has been bulletproof!
