I did a test drive of SH-AWD today and while I don't deny that it's a good value ,nice build and quitter, the driving experience killed all the fun for me.
Even on Sport+ the delay of the gearbox is there and the acceleration while is strong after 1-2 seconds of indecision , it's not linear as my 4G.
I would have to change my driving habits if I would take the TLX and I'm not ready to do it.
During the test drive I was entering on highway and I wanted to change the line by matching the speed between the 2 cars(quite away apart) like I do with my 4G without any problem with a tap on the throttle , the TLX was like didn't know what to do and during that 2-3 seconds of hesitation the car behind on the left line was already on my left while the Blind spot was beeping and I have to cancel my maneuver . It was a strange feeling as I wasn't expecting that , which is confirming me same findings as Weather. Yes ,I was on Sport+ .
I decide to keep my 4g for a while and if a type S will come soon I may give another chance , if not I'll have to look somewhere else , even I'll pay more.
I don't want to say that TLX is not good , but is not for me after I have so much fun with my 4g.
What was kind surprising , even the sales guy who has a 2007 Type S he agreed my findings were share by other Acura "enthusiasts".
The seats was another thing that bugged me , not so bolstered and I was sliding left or right during the turns.
Another small issue for me was the feeling that the car is "delicate" compare with 4G , the door handles are thinner , same for steering wheel and everything you touch feels "delicate" Maybe for many is a good thing but it didn't work for me.
Sorry if it's sounded negative and I don't intend to start another debate TLX vs 4g . It was purely my findings vs my actual drive.
Have a good day everybody!
