Now that the temps are starting to decrease in the overnight hours, my 2001 with over 165k miles seems to be loud on starting. I know RPMs increase in cold weather but this is different. As soon as the engine turns over, there is a loud "thud" that seems to come from underneath the seat. Everything else seems shaky much more than usual. There is more shaking when in reverse also, but not in drive.
Could this be from broken or not as tight motor mounts? I think it could be from a loose exhaust shield as well? Also, my friend said to put the Key into Access ON II mode, for a couple seconds for the fuel pump to warm up in cold weather -does that help with cold weather starting?
