I finally found what I thought was a good replacement transmission for my 1999 TL, at the local junkyard. The donor car was a 1999 3.2 TL that appeared to be fairly clean good looking with non-burnt smelling fluid. So I thought I would give it a try. I drained as much of the old fluid as I could, replaced the front pump seal, axle seals, and replaced the converter. The swap went pretty smooth. Installed the tranny and filled it with 6 quarts of Honda ATF DW1 and started it up. Everything sounded good in park but when I shifted it into reverse going into drive there was a grinding noise. When I had it in drive, it engaged the froward gear with no noise but trying to place it back into reverse, it would make a pretty bad grinding noise. The noise would lessen when I put the shifter back into park but would not go away unless I put the tranny into neutral or any drive position I did not want to drive the car so this is where I sit. Hopefully someone will tell me I hookup something up wrong. Or did get a bad one. It almost sound like the sound when one tries to put a car in park before the car is fully stopped. Please Help!
