Hi guys,
08 TL-S 5AT, 57,xxx miles
Longtime reader here, first time poster.
Approximately 2 weeks ago after a short drive (<5 miles) I noticed the radiator fan stayed on after shutting the car off. Not making much of the issue, I let it run thinking it had overheated and let the fan shut itself off after 5 mins. Last week I was on another short drive (~8 mile and noticed when I was stopped at traffic lights the temp gauge was having excursions into the 1/2 to 2/3 range, but it would drop down to its normal level of 1/3 when I resumed driving. When I reached my destination, the fan stayed on again longer than the car. During the trip home shortly after, same thing. I let the car sit for 3 days and Tuesday morning took it for a short drive and cranked up the heat in the chilly weather but the HVAC blew cool air, as if only the fan was running (a/c off, obviously). Car has never been driven or had its HVAC used until the engine was warmed up to normal operating temp and has ran great until now with this radiator fan/heater problem.
The coolant is slightly above the max level in the reservoir, and it tested 5/5 and has a clean turquoise/bluish color. Both radiator fans are operational; the passenger side kicks in if the A/C is in use. Radiator upper and lower hoses are about same temperature after car has warmed up. Confused on where to begin.. Thermostat? Pressure cap? Sensors? Rad flush? HCV? Any timers?
The ambient temp here hasn't been very hot; I don't recall it ever being over 70 or 75 when I noticed the problem.
Thanx in advance guys!
