So we did pick up the Q50 Sport AWD Saturday morning and we immediately went for a nice ride to Vancouver Canada to spend the night with friends...we just came back.
We are very impressed with the car. Tech is fantastic and the car can literally drive by itself...it was uncanny at times.
I love the fact that I can access the basic functions my touch, the big wheel and by voice....kudos to Infiniti for not bowing to the trend of eliminating all buttons in dashboards.
The Infiniti app center can be a touch slow at startup. Nice the shortcut to call Infiniti concierge service from a key on the nav screen.
Fit and finish is top notch, very premium feel.
The car is very quiet at cruise but if you stomp it the Nissan VQ growls beautifully...I do like to hear the sound of that engine.
Engine smoothness and transmission are much improved compared to the G37...you can see where Nissan spent some development money.
Nice ergonomics but I would have preferred a thicker steering rim like my TL.
Even with the 19" rims and low profile tires, the car is very comfortable over bumps and potholes.
The Drive-by-Wire steering wheel can be a bit perplexing initially but after a brief period I actually like it a lot....unmatched capability to filter (better say eliminate) rough roads feedback....turning ratio is amazing.
What I like of the Q50 is that it is a bit bigger than the 3 Series or the A4 but not 5 Series/A6. E Class big (or event my TL)...just right...for example we did find the Lexus IS350 too cramped (but more fun to drive).
I love the design almost "Maseratesque" in style.....particularly sharp it's the curved blade effects of the led lights.
After all my wife decided that the Lexus GS was a bit too conservative in design for her. It was our closest second choice
