with how slow my 6mt TL-S is :tomato:
I've had my stock 07 TL-S 6mt for a few months now, and although it feels like a supercar compared to my 98 civic ex I had previously, I had no delusions about what was going to happen when I lined up with Godzilla.
I went down to mexico (of course) last weekend with a group of friends for a bachelor party and we had a great time. The next afternoon we left the hotel and started the 2 hour drive home. About halfway through our trip I saw headlights coming up behind me fairly quickly that I didn't really recognize. I move over to the middle lane well ahead of time to let him pass. When he gets beside me I realize what I'm looking at and I say "Holy shit a GTR!" to the 3 other guys that were riding with me. Every single one of them had no idea what a GTR was. :whyme: After taking away their man card and explaining to them what a GTR was, I noticed that traffic had opened up and I figured I would never have another chance to run a GTR and decided to pull up beside him.
We were next to each other at about 70-75mph for a few minutes and I tried to respectfully gain his attention without pulling some stupid ricer d-bag taunts. He eventually looks over to us and I smile and point forward down the road and ask him if he will race me. He smiled at me, said something to his girl in the passenger seat, and slowed down to about 65 or so. I paced him in 3rd and took the hit :vtec:. By the time I shifted to 4th at redline he was 5-6 cars ahead of me and rapidly disappearing:what:. I shut down at around 105 with him multiple freight trains ahead of me. His car never got loud so I don't think he even really got on it or even downshifted. In my defense, I really did forget to turn my AC off during the excitement so I'm sure I could have been much closer to winning
I never caught back up to the guy so I didn't have a chance to thank him, but it was very cool that he was willing to let me see his car run. Now I'm going to go suppress the thoughts that tell me my TL is slow, and keep believing I drive a supercar now.
